LASU is a large university with a recorded student population of over 40,000. It offers a wide range of academic programs and has numerous faculties and departments. Its sprawling campus is equipped with modern facilities to cater to the educational needs of its diverse student body.
What Does LASU Cut-Off Mark Mean?
LASU cut-off mark is the minimum score a candidate must achieve in JAMB and Post UTME or Screening test to be qualified for admission.
This process is used to filter out students who are less qualified or didn’t reach the cut-off mark.
The Three Categories of LASU Cut-Off Mark
- General Cut-Off Mark: This is the minimum mark for all applicants seeking admission. This is called the JAMB cut-off mark, Regardless of the course.
- Post-UTME Cut-Off Mark: After meeting the JAMB requirement, candidates must also perform well in LASU’s post-UTME screening process. This can come as a written exam or an interview.
- Course-Specific Cut-Off Mark: It is also called a Departmental cut-off mark.
This cut-off mark is obtained by adding the JAMB and Post UTME scores.
And here, only those who meet the departmental cut-off mark are accepted.
How LASU Determines Cut-Off Marks
Every university has a pattern of determining its cut-off mark.
Here, the LASU cut-off marks for all courses is determined by the following:
- UTME performance: A candidate’s UTME score is important in determining eligibility. If more students pass UTME then there are high chances of LASU cut-off marks for all courses to increase rapidly.
- Available spaces: LASU considers the number of available spots for each program.
- Demand for the course: If many students apply for a particular course, LASU will have no other choice than to increase the cut-off mark because of the course.
What is the LASU Cut-Off Mark for Courses that are highly sought after?
Courses like Medicine, Law and Engineering have very high cut-off marks ranging from 270 – 310.
We always advised students who didn’t make 250+ in JAMB to apply for these courses especially in LASU.
How LASU Gives Aspirant Admission
There are three sections in admission giving at LASU.
- Merit List: This is the first released list, usually for individuals who reached or crossed the official cut-off mark for their course.
- Catchment Area List: This list is for an aspirant who didn’t make up the official score but meant their state catchment cut-off mark.
- ELDS List: This is usually the last list; here aspirant you score almost the official or catchment Area List are offered admission.

How LASU Calculate Their Screening
LASU cut-off mark for all courses is calculated through a process called screening, which is the combination of JAMB and Post UTME or aptitude test to get a specific score.
LASU Acceptance Fee and Medical Fee
Acceptance fees are based on your course; top courses like Medicine and law have an acceptance fee of 70,000.
Then, for low competitive courses Acceptance fee is from 50,000 and below.
Medical Fee: LASU also requires students to pay a medical fee for health services on campus. The price is fixed for all students.
The medical fee is 10,000
How to Gain Admission into LASU
To gain admission into LASU, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- UTME: Score the required cut-off mark in the UTME and get a good JAMB score.
- Post-UTME Screening: Perform well in LASU’s screening exercises.
- O’level Requirements: Meet the required O’level results (e.g., WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB) for the program.

No, rather it is very competitive, so you must study hard especially when you are into competitive courses like law, medicine and Nursing.
What Happens If My Score is Below LASU’s Cut-Off Mark?
If your score falls below LASU’s cut-off mark, you may not be eligible for admission into your desired program.
What you should do is;
Consider applying for supplementary admission
Change your course to low-competitive courses
Look for low-competitive universities to apply.
Try resetting for JAMB if necessary; this time, prepare very well.
What Are the Cut-Off Marks for LASU’s Science and Engineering Courses?
For Science and Engineering courses, the cut-off mark ranges from 200 – 250. Why? Because Engineering courses are very competitive.
Does LASU Offer an Opportunity for Supplementary Admission?
Yes, LASU offers supplementary admission to candidates who did not meet the primary cut-off marks. This is for candidates who scored slightly below the cut-off mark or those who applied for courses with limited space.
